The second-hand marketplace Shoppers Voice Displeasure Over Size Updates
Shoppers are voicing their frustration due to a modification that led to items being listed as the wrong size.
The popular resale platform has updated its sizing categories for women's and children's garments without notifying all users about the change.
Digital Channels Response
Countless users and merchants are posting online claiming that product pages now present an altered size classification than originally posted due to the recalibration.
The company said the new system was more in line with other platforms.
The platform has recommended to examine their items and update the measurements by hand where appropriate, resulting in member annoyance.
Size Classification Changes
Earlier, the sizes had both one number and one letter, such as S/8 or M/10.
The revised method features a letter and a range like S/UK 8-10.
In some cases, the size labels have been reassigned - like an L measurement was formerly size 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18.
Shopper Stories
A fashion influencer, who produces content about larger sizing, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling".
"Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," which is what Vinted now does.
Another user, located in Scotland, said garments she listed on Vinted with size 14 labels were appearing on the platform as measurements 20-22.
"If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they will likely be quite upset," she said.
Manual Updates
Charlotte Lunn, from Derby, explained she became annoyed by the change as she had to manually change the sizes on "every single listing".
"Personally, this is quite irritating, since I have chronic health issues and selling on Vinted has been paramount after experiencing income reduction," she said.
Marketplace Information
The service features exceeding 100 million shoppers, comprising 18 million UK members.
It has emerged as a preferred choice compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop.
This is not the initial instance where an unanticipated change to the app has proved unpopular: earlier, the platform withdrew an update regarding delivery choices following member complaints.
