It's a challenge for Australia to achieve unprecedented feats.

The greatest achievements have long been mastered.

We're talking about the unit that has secured seven Cricket World Cups, plus an additional six T20 titles, and previously enjoyed nearly four years unbeaten in 50-over cricket.

The alternative records, those for the achievement hunters, are the only things left for a side that has won it all.

It needed up to Sunday's victory by three wickets over India for them to accomplish their maiden ODI chase exceeding 300, reclaiming their record for the largest in the women's 50-over format, is, frankly, a compliment to the bowlers that have represented Australia over five decades.

It's challenging for their hitters to possess a record if not provided the opportunity.

In the end, the consequence of Australia conceding 330 was skipper Alyssa Healy being given an opportunity to deliver her most recent brilliance.

Originally famous as the 19-year-old niece of renowned former Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she made her debut in 2010 after Australia couldn't capture either of the 20 or 50-over World Cups conducted earlier and has seen it all through 15 championship-filled years since.

A T20 championship victory arrived three months after her debut and seven world titles have followed from 10 tries across formats.

The tough gloveman was present as well in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final setback by India temporarily stopped the successful run.

That loss "pushed us to reconsider our benchmarks," Healy stated recently.

At the subsequent ODI World Cup in New Zealand, Healy scored 170 against England in the title decider and was awarded tournament MVP. She guaranteed her country would not come up short.

Whether this recent magnificent innings surpassed that earlier display is debatable.

Some will argue the reasoning behind championship match pressure. Some might respond with the test that comes when pursuing an unprecedented total and an enthusiastic Indian fanbase of 20,000.

What is certain is this century was far harder to see coming.

The New Zealand onslaught in 2022 occurred when she was the highest scorer, but this knock followed six innings in India from the beginning of the previous month in which she had not exceeded 30 runs.

"For those following me in practice sessions, it's been a challenging time because it seemed I've had no rhythm whatsoever," said Healy.

"But once you enter the playing area, your competitive instincts kick in and you just lock into the match."

Healy's fighting spirit has always been her major advantage - and a priceless quality in succeeding famous previous leader Meg Lanning.

She was challenged by India's emerging talent Kranti Gaud in last month's ODI series, dismissed by the 22-year-old seamer in every game, but here that only provided Healy's inspiration.

One run resulted off the opening delivery and from there Healy was on her way.

"A chance to go out there and face the challenge with her and simply enjoy myself in that aspect, kind of motivated me," said Healy.

She reached fifty in 35 deliveries - her swiftest at the global tournament - and her hundred in 84 balls as she attacked short-pitched balls, striking 21 boundaries and three sixes.

When she was dismissed her side required another 66 at a run-a-ball - an unconquered height now needing a comfortable finish.

"Chasing 330 runs is new territory so I'm pleased we have the confidence to achieve that now," stated Healy further.

"Preferably we shouldn't have to do it another time but, should it happen, we believe we can do it."

Those words will be the ultimate thing Australia's opponents at this World Cup need to hear.

Over the past five days a feeling they will succeed regardless of circumstances has become more firm - this success succeeding victory over Pakistan by 107 runs despite sitting at 76-7 at one stage.

Next Australia play Bangladesh before a match against longtime competitors England in Indore in a week and a half, by which point a semi-final place may well be secure.

During that phase they left the previous year's T20 World Cup in a shock defeat by South Africa - an encounter Healy couldn't play because of ruptured tissue in her foot as she captained her nation for the first time at a significant event.

So great is her will, she afterwards commented she regretted not playing through the pain.

Yet even as she afterwards confessed those physical issues have pushed back thoughts of retirement, this World Cup is expected to be her last as captain in ODI cricket and she is still to achieve a world championship as captain.

Triumph in India would take her to the summit of her final mountain.
